First, I read the news that Devil May Cry 4, an ex-PS3 exclusive title was going to be available on the PC and XBOX360 as well. That was good news. Then, I read about just how much flak the publisher, Capcom, was getting by PS3 fans for this move. In response they argued : Is Dead Rising or Lost Planet (XBOX exvclusive titles) ever gonna port over to the PS3? The response: NO. This was even better. And it really got me thinking into writing this article.
XBOX360 against the PS3. The videogame wars. Whose side are you on? One major factor which influences people to choose between the two is the type of games that come out on it. Whilst nowadays, all the really good games come multi-platform for the enjoyment of all mankind, it’s those console-specific-exclusive-titles that are the real turning point for consumers. With the XBOX there’s the infamous Halo’s 1,2,3, and soon to be Halo Wars, Gears of War, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Crackdown, and my most anticipated Command & Conquer 3:Tiberium Wars. For the PS3, there’s the never final Final Fantasy and a slew of other Japanese crap.
As a judege, reviewer, and critic, I am obliged to measure these two consoles in a fairly objective and simple manner for everyone and not just videogamers to understand. The PS3 has superior technical specs, but the XBOX360 has the better games. The PS3 is losing ground. A lot of its exclusives are going multiplatform. MY reasoning for this is that the XBOX exclusives are published by Microsoft, whereas the formerly PS exclusives are from independent publishers who foresee more sales by going multi-platform.
Verdict: I call the coming years of the video game industry PAX XBOX. The reign of the BOX is here to stay. The Play Station was a feat of genius of its time, and did a hell of a good job at displacing Nintendo and Sega. But now the giant called Microsoft has entered the theatre along with its trillions worth of greenbacks, and it usually always wins. Sure, an Apple is anyday more powerful than a Windows, and the PS3 is anyday more powerful than an XBOX. But from what I’ve learnt in economics, it’s the complementaries, the SOFTWARE, that’s gonna decide the which one’s gonna be occupying that precious space next to people’s tellies.
Conclusion: Stick with the console with the better games. The XBOX360 will never let you down, unless you're some sissy who'd prefer non-violent, extremely nonsensical kiddy Japanese crap because of an ultra conservative post-World War 2 constitution that's supposed to keep Banzai Nippon facism in check.
Add your say! Flame me if I’m wrong, or flak the PS3 even more if I’m right
To be continued: Wii vs. PS3. (If you have money for a second console, don’t get a PS. Get a Wii)

ahhh , my favourite topic , console wars, i agree with wat u said but u also have to realise that 80% of xbox library are shooters
infact all xbox standout games are shooters, not much variety to it
and hey ps3 top games such as the best series ever created on a console (god of war) and metal gear aint exactly kiddy crap
as it seems i might be a sony fanboy , im actually more towards nintendo becuz the games are very addictive and they tell good stories (zelda )
the first thing i bought when i reach aussie was Zelda Twilight Princess for the Wii , though my Wii is non-existent. lol
but shooters are the best games out there!!!
and yes god of war and metal gear are good entrees, but it is only a matter of time before their sequels get ported to XBOX!
NEWSFLASH: The Black XBOX360 beat the
white PS3 to the market! Go Microsoft!
lmao God of War is made by Sony . Microsoft is going to have a hard time convincing Metal gear coming over considering how Sony offered Hideo Kojima a Metal Gear movie deal.but it certainly possible.
and i want my Wii!!.
Wii> PS3(2008)>Xbox 360(2008)>Xbox360(2007)>PS3(2007)
now to promote the Wii.
Nintendo fanboy's wetdreams
1. Mario and Sonic at the olympics
http://www.sega.com/gamesite/marioandsonic/index.php
2. Kingdom Hearts and Mario in 1 game
forgot the link
3. Super Paper Mario
4. Mario Party 8
5. and more to come...
hey, you forgot to add project grotham racing to the xbox exclusive list...
hmm....ok then... so metal gear and god of war may not be coming over. but i still don't think it's worth paying over 3000 for a console with ONLY those two exclusives.
hey mr anonymous, the post on the wii is yet to come, so don't spill your beans yet.
I totally disagree with yr entire comments. This shows that u are a narrow minded X-box freak. I can assure that u dont even own a PS2 console. Therefore, u have no right to pass judgement on the PS console. First and foremost, the reason why the infamous Halo 1,2,3 and Gears OF War are exclusively for X-box 360 is that the games were produced by Microsoft themselves.Hence, it would contradict themselves if they were to be sold in PS consoles. Microsoft Games FOR PLAYSTATION??? What a joke. One more thing, new release games like The Assasin Creed and Resistance Fall of Men are exclusively for PS3, these 2 games are highly rated PS3 games and I bet u havent played them..(to be continued)
you disagree ENTIRELY with what I said, and yet you end up REINFORCING what I said: Microsoft makes the best console and also makes the best games (Halo Series, Gears of War, etc)to go along with it. Period.
Fall Of Men is yesterday's news, and is nowhere near the hype that Gears is generating. FYI, Gears is on its way to the big screen.
As for Assassin's Creed, I bet that unless you were part of the development team, you wouldn't have played it either, BECAUSE IT ISNT OUT.
And stop reading obsolete news, when Assassins Creed does come out, its gonna be on the XBOX as well.
That's another hardfought exclusitivity the PS has lost and the XBOX has won.
Look forward to your continuation. this is a really interesting debate
just to clarify , i was the first anonymous cuz i forgot to put down my name. i dunno who the 2nd anonymous is
I never said that the Microsoft produces the best games, only that the games that they produce are for the benifits of their own console.BTW, it is not surprising that the games you mentioned are exclusively for X-box as the PS3 has just only been released recently in the European Union and most parts of Asia. Any game producer would do the same when it comes to maximizing profit. The sale of the PS3s are like hot cakes in the Great Britian thus producing a very positive growth. In a matter of time, game producers will have a clearer picture of the market hence diverting towards The PS3. Currently, X-box might be leading in obtaining exclusive 'licences' over certain games forementioned. However, it is not the PRESENT that the world is interested in, but in a LONG TERM. The establishment of the X-box is merely to challenge the dominance of the Sony PS in the gaming industry. Take a look at their 1st failed investment- the infamous Xbox(original).U just cant draw conclusion that the X-box360 will be able to obtain more exclusive game 'licences' at the current rate they are going.. (to be continued)
why doesnt anybody compare the Wii to the Ps3 and Xbox . It cant just be left alone.
besides the Wii is selling faster than the ps3 in australia.
infact only a handful of people turn up in the ps3 midnight launch sale in australia compared to the Wii.
the ps3 isnt worth getting until household games , like metal gear , god of war 3, killzone 3 , Grand turismo HD, and wassat that game called ? heavenly swords or something , etc etc comes out.
My guess will be Wii > Ps3(2008) >
xbox 360 (2008) > xbox 360 (2007) > ps3 (2007)
u have to realise , most of the good xbox titles only release more than a year after the machine's release cuz the developer would fully understand the system by then.the same goes to the ps2 and especially the psp.
Ps3 should be given time b4 it can be passed judgement.
infact the xbox 360 launch titles were mostly crap , same goes with the ps3 except Nintendo
becuz they ensure that at least 1 really good title made by themselves launches with their system, (N64= Mario 64, Gamecube= Luigi's Mansion, Wii=Zelda)
oops sorry the last post was by me. Forgot to write my name again
infact, im in a tough situation now. cuz i got a choice to buy a Wii nxt week with my own cash during my term break or my mum would buy me a Ps3 during July or whenever i get back. so hard to make a decision.if only i have enuff cash like my bro who doesnt go thru all this fuss and just buys all the 3 machines
wardi,,,, the post on the Wii is coming ok! soon, very soon!
the real anonymous...you got a strong point.
I am a huge narrow minded freak of a fan of the xbox360, not the original, and I strongly believe I am correct when I say that for the PRESENT, the XBOX360 is the clear winner.
But I ain't willing to bet my machine that it won't get beaten by the PS3 in the future. Microsoft was smart by releasing it one year early. and this time the 360 is a very serious contender in replacing the ps3,unlike the previous gen where ps2 was the dominator.
So as far as current trends are concerned, XBOX360 all the way.
by the way anonymous, just for a clearer picture, which part of the world you from? UK?
Yup, so the 360 is outselling the PS3 at the moment is that the 360 is waaay past its early adopter's stage and of course, Microsoft is doing a good job marketing it. Kudos to Microsoft for that.
The PS3's future may be gloomy but it's all but dead. Yup, time's all the defense PS fans have and it isn't solid. Then again nothing is solid at a time like this. The only challenge for Sony is: games. Developing games for a next-gen console at this stage is both costly and risky. If Sony (or Microsoft) could just convince game developers to develop games for the PS3, there's a strong chancae the PS3 will triumph. Manufacturing cost would decline in time and soon the PS3 will be more affordable to the mass market, all it needs are the games to back it up.
The recent release of God of War II and Okami (Whilst I never played, it's certainly far from being Japanese rubbish lol!) for the PS2 show that there's still life in the Playstation. If Sony could utilize these connections for the PS3, they shouldn't worry about their future. It's about time they realize it's still early that people buy Blu-ray technology.
As for the Nintendo Wii, it's hard make comparison with its contemporaries as it's catered for a different market. Hmmm... my verdict is that if you couldn't bother with cutting edge technology/graphics or simply don't have a hi-def TV to boot with, GET IT!
Out of the 3 consoles, it's the most innovative yet and even the bundled Wii Sports is addictive as hell! Great for party and short burst gaming. Definitely better than that dancing mat thingy. =D
