Most walk away. Some take flight. Others stay rooted and scream. And then there would be the first daring little girl who would approach me and ask, “May I take a picture with you?” She poses next to me, seemingly unafraid for her dear life. Her dad then presses a button, and in a flash, it’s over. The kid walks away alive and happy, only to be replaced by another. The process repeats itself, and once again no blood is spilt. Slowly, the crowd comes walking back, yet still keeping a safe distance. But as more and more children approach me and walk away unharmed, their fear and apprehension subsides. Within minutes, I become the most desired person on the floor, where a large crowd is jostling and pushing amongst themselves just to get near me. This instantaneous fame lasts a tiring, stifling, and sweaty two hours before I finally retire to a back room and struggle out of my foul costume.
