This post is for those who have already read my previous article : Microsoft vs. Sony.
On Gamespot, there's this article written by this supposed expert telling about the long life of this generation's consoles and how the PS3 will emerge the winner in terms of sales by 2011. And then there's all this readers bashing him about how wrong he is! Very interesting read, even if you do not own a console. And Wardi, they also talk about the Wii!

Updated 14/5/07: You know what, I don't think I have to write out anything. The response from the Gamespot readers are spot on. You should just read their responses. Maybe I will compile their points or something. This is my favourite comment that I've read so far: "its like sony against the world with all the bashing."

It's not just that the 'expert' got it wrong, it's that they seem to contradict themselves. It says the Wii will sell 72.4m consoles by 2011, very close to the PS3, then a few paragraphs later:
[As for Nintendo's hit holiday launch of the Wii, Pachter appears unconvinced of the system's long-term prospects.
"We believe that the Wii will outsell its competitors by a large margin for at least two years, but have difficulty predicting whether Wii demand will remain strong or will fade thereafter," Pachter said.]

Plus they expect the PS3 to be tops on the assumption that they win the high definition dvd format war, which, honestly, doesn't seem likely.
spot on andrew. you don't buy a console so u can play blue ray movies. u buy a blue ray player for that.
plus there was this one comment which trumps all. basically it said: So bloody what if the PS3 wins the console wars in the end in 2011? Are you gonna wait another 4 years to get the winner, which by that time it will be another 2 years at most before the next generation of consoles come out? Or do you wanna get the console that's holding the lead (XBOX360) for the next 4 years? And this is only ASSUMING that the PS3 DOES win. Which all evidence in this point of time points against.
Xbox 360, cheap, sexy and rox. PS3, expensive, unoriginal and stupid. Sony is going down this round.
