Like a leopard who can run 100m in 3 seconds but needs to rest a few hours before it can do the same again, Riya fought back with the force and vigor that only a 2 year old can muster, but being a 2 year old, she exhausted quickly and lost the battle with the maid by herself. She fell asleep.
Later when she woke up, she was more cooperative. SLIGHTLY more cooperative. (The wonders sleep can do for a person!) Since the ceremony was over, she was no longer prevented from wandering around. So wander she did, talking to herself all the time in a language only she herself could comprehend. Everynow and then, her self-conversation became so exciting that she had to share it with the rest of us by screaming and shouting whilst laughing and smiling. I tried to engage her using the universal language of English, but I guess globalization has not made its impact felt on her yet. So I made up boo-boo-poo-poo like sounds of my own. And though I never understood what it was that I was saying, her response showed that she was getting me, more than what other adults are able to get sometimes.
So why do I love toddlers who can walk but not yet talk?
1.They utter utterly unintelligible sounds, so even when they curse at you, you never feel hurt.
2.They start screaming all of a sudden, whether happy, sad, or neutral, for reasons science cannot tell yet.
3.When they cry, it pours, and their wailing is enough to send even banshees running.
4.The three things they do above helps to liven up Mass a lot.
5.Despite all this, what truly awes me is that only the most damnable, inhuman, and selfish of fools could even possibly think of getting angry at them for their behaviour. Such is the strength in the conviction of a child’s innocence.
You may not know Riya, but remember Boo from Monsters Inc. ???
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, asking,"Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? so Jesus called a child to come and stand in their midst and said, " Unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the Kingdom of heaven. The greatest in the Kingdom of heaven is the one who humbles himself and becomes like this child. And whoever welcomes in my name one child such as this, welcomes me" :Matthew 18:1-5
Some people brought children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and to pray for them, but the disciples scolded the people. Jesus said, "Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." :Matthew 19:13-14
